Up to about 30 years ago a standard procedure was to continue giving enemas until the patient "ran clear" (This means clean soapy water in the pot, not running away!). I've beentold this was exhausting for the patient. Any views?

Let's face it, any kind of an Enema that is not given properly is
going to be a miserable experience as well as exhausting.
We,on this Board, all concentrate on ways to give and take Enemas
in such ways as to make the Enema comfortable, enjoyable and effective.
When the instructions are to continue "until clear" multiple Enemas are going to be the result. The more "bad Enemas" given or taken the more miserable the experience. This includes exhaustion.
Enemas given to the very elderly have been known to be fatal because of this exhaustion.
Enemas must be carefully taken or given in all cases.

Even good enemas will make you tired after 3 or 4, the more you take the more tired you will feel. At least that is my experience when taking many enemas at one time, but for me it may be getting up and down from the floor in the bathroom. Maybe that is a new kind of exercise??

Good health to all

Your point is well taken in light of Kristina's advice given on an
earlier thread to take the Enemas in a series without hesitation since the purpose is to "flush" the Colon.
I give myself plenty of time for my series of Enemas and do not take
one until I feel I have entirely eliminated the previous one or at
least come close to it.
When they are all over and done with, I feel more relaxed than I do
tired.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess

When I was a kid and sick with a high fever and after Mom gave me the until clear enemas I was totally exhausted. Using Kristine's enema soap I am clear after my first slow (20 minutes for the fill) 3 quart enema. I take three 3 quart enemas with at least a half hour between I feel great when I am through. I think that the time between enemas is the key to comfort and to be relaxed and very happy.

Oh, I'm sure she doesn't mind! It's okay to just call her Kris. It's easier!
